We met in 1984 and 'dated', off and on, for nearly 10 years. During that time, I lived with Trish in 'her' house, then she lived with me in 'my' house. Eventually, in 1994 we sold both properties and bought 'our' house. That was at Hinemoa St, Northcote.
A few years later we discovered a common desire in owning a bit of land. Trish for her interest in getting back to riding horses and for me, to experience country life with animals, fresh air and a break from busy city life.
We eventually found 11 acres on Glenmore Rd., Coatesville. Close to Auckland but far enough away to get out of the city. All neighbors had horses or other animals. On a dirt road for good riding access to the Pony Club. Not a light to be seen at night. Very quiet and peaceful. Eventually Coatesville became 'too busy' for me, and (foolishly perhaps), we sold and moved before the 'boom' in property prices.
From there we shifted for a brief stay in Te Aroha before buying another Lifestyle farm in the Kaimais, 15 minutes from Tauranga City. After 6 years we sold 'Omanawa' and moved to Pyes Pa, closer to the city and where we live today.
Tony sold his business in 1997 and spent his time 'developing' the Coatesville property and maintaining some business interests, while Trish stayed on as Manager of IDA . A job she loved. Later commuting 1 day a week from Te Aroha. She resigned in about 2004.
