Within the Kaimai Range the Hendersons Tramline loop track follows the route of bush tramlines and haul lines once used to extract logs from the bush.)

Toilet with a difference (The main tourist attraction in Kawakawa is the colourful public toilet designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. First visiting New Zealand in the 1970s for an exhibition of his work, he decided to make the country his second home and bought property on the Waikare inlet, east of Kawakawa. In 1998 with the help of the community he transformed the town’s public toilets into a work of art.)

Grows On You (We found this old 'structure' almost as far south as one can go in New Zealand. On a farm at The Nugget Point, this may qualify as one of the first and only remaining houses built by Maori (according to the farm owner). The corrugated iron roof is a recent addition (sometime in the last 50-60 years).)
